Africa's first battery gigafactory is due to start production around the end of summer 2026 in the Kenitra Atlantic Free Zone. It will be a new large source of battery manufacturing scrap and foil scrap, relevant to battery recyclers and black-mass buyers.

Hazardous material. lithium batteries are a fire risk and need dangerous-goods transport (UN3480/3090). Handling needs a licensed operator (in Saudi Arabia a MWAN waste-management licence; elsewhere the local environmental permit).
